2010 APAI "Margaritaville" Beach Party a Resounding Success!
Over 60 APAI members and their families took advantage of a beautiful summer day at the Honey Creek Resort on Lake Rathbun for the 2nd Annual APAI Beach Party on July 22nd and 23rd.
Thursday afternoon found members enjoying the day boating and enjoying the sun on the rain-swollen lake. The "Margaritaville" Beach Party began at 5 PM with a commemorative Asphalt the Smooth Ride mar
garita glass, a free-flowing margarita fountain, and a cool summer breeze on the beautiful patio at the Honey Creek Resort. A delicious grilled steak fillet dinner and buffet was served to hungry guests. Just prior to the 9-piece Low Tides and Highways Band beginning their renditions of Jimmy Buffett's greatest hits, Brady Meldrem, President of Norris Asphalt, stood and recognized recently-retired Jim Kincart and his wife M
ary, for Jim's 37 years of service to Norris Asphalt and the asphalt industry as a whole. Jim's insight and knowledge will be missed.The evening continued with great music, great conversation, and the joy of spending time with friends in the asphalt industry.
Friday found 40 members playing some excellent rounds of golf in the members-only APAI Beach Party Open. The team of Doug and Ben Clement, Kathryn Barnhill and Larry Mattusch were able to retain their title for a second year with a round of 62.
