APAI WINS NAPA WEBSITE AWARD!!
Our website (www.apai.net) was designed to present technical information in a simplified form that could be understood by the public, as well as information useful to practicing engineers and technicians. APAI’s website www.apai.net includes:
With the vast amount of information available on the world-wide web, APA has tried to narrow down the information search process by adding links that may be useful to a large audience. The following sites may be accessed through www.apai.net’s education page. www.QuietPavement.com: A fun, highly interactive learning experience about the impact of road noise in our lives as well as methods for reducing road noise using hot mix asphalt. This site is a fun tool for teachers and students of all ages brought to you by the Asphalt Pavement Alliance. www.Beyondroads.com: This is a site for everyone (teachers, students, legislators, researchers, journalist, community, and the curious). Available information includes lesson suggestions for teachers, report assistance for students, and a source of reliable statistics and regulations for the legislator, research, or journalist. This site provides additional links to all state department of transportations and associations. It also gives a virtual tour of an asphalt plant, as well as answers to frequently as questions. This site is brought to you by the Asphalt Education Partnership a coalition of NAPA and the State Asphalt Pavement Associations. The Smithsonian National Museum of American History (http://www.americanhistory.si.edu/onthemove/) provides students and teachers with a look at the past. Visit communities wrestling with the changes that were brought about by the new transportation network. Se cities change, suburbs expand, and farms and factories become part of regional, national, and international economies. Through personal accounts view their travels for work and pleasure, and as they move to new homes. Experience the other facet of this site that highlights America’s Transportation on the Move. Some of the other links available include links to Iowa State University and the University of Iowa. These links will enable the person interested in pursuing an education in engineering to go directly to the respective university’s engineering site. It is the desire of this award-winning website to be a valuable tool to the public. Only you can tell us if we have succeeded. |
