The Asphalt Paving Association of Iowa
Asphalt Comprehensive Training (ACT) Program
OVERVIEW
The APAI is proud to announce the formation of the inaugural class of the
Asphalt Comprehensive Training (ACT) Program. The ACT Program has been created in cooperation with APAI contractors, asphalt suppliers and associate members to provide a unique introduction for individuals new to Iowa’s asphalt industry. The program will provide valuable insights into all aspects of the asphalt industry including: asphalt refining, aggregate production, association membership, equipment manufacturing and purchasing, as well as, asphalt plant and laydown operations. Program members will be mentored throughout the learning process by respected leaders in Iowa’s asphalt industry and will be provided opportunities to forge new relationships among their peers. ACT program participants will be asked to host an event during the APAI Summer Meeting and will be required to present 30 minutes on a topic of the group’s choice at the 2019 APAI Annual Convention.
DETAILS
The ACT Program will feature one new class each year of 12-15 individuals. Class members will be selected on merit and an application essay. Applicants will be evaluated by industry peers and former members of ACT classes. Once selected, program members are required to pay a $500 fee towards reimbursement of events, food and event transportation. Participants will be responsible for transportation to the event site and their own lodging. The ACT program invites a limited number of participants and therefore requests that the members plan to attend ALL of the scheduled events.
APPLICATION
Applications can be obtained by clicking here. Deadline for applications has been extended and are due no later than 12:00 AM, December 14, 2018. New members will be notified in early April. Those who are not selected are invited to apply the following year.
